A-do-le-tá! is a joyous creative and rhythmic dance theatre show about friendship and play.

Two friends with BIG imaginations and BIG dreams immersed in their favourite games and busy creating brand new games of their very own. In the imaginary world of A-do-le-tá!, you decide if these two friends are living this moment or dreaming about it.

(“adoleta”) is the name of a traditional hand-clapping game originating in France brought to Brazil during which children sing a rhyme while clapping.

Concept & Choreography:   Selma Daniel              Dancers: Dagmara Jerzak & Selma Daniel

Selma Daniel is a choreographer and a dancer originally from Brazil now living in Kildare. She was awarded an MA in Contemporary Dance Performance from the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, University of Limerick. With support from Fingal County Council in 2014, she completed the first round of research for this work. This has led to developing a dance theatre show informed by the importance of free play during early childhood, something Selma strongly believes in as a parent and arts practitioner. In this phase of the production, Selma is working closely with a set-designer and puppeteer and the relationship between the dancer, the props and performance.

The development of this work has been mentored by Ailish Claffey’s Dance Artist in Residency at McAuley Place, supported by Dance Ireland, McAuley Place and Draíocht Theatre and kindly funded by y the Arts Council YPCE Bursary and Kildare County Council.
